Price Watch Local — Privacy Policy

1. Scope of this policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the Price Watch Local Chrome extension processes information when you use its product-price tracking features. The extension's single purpose is to help you monitor products you choose, keep a local price history, and optionally receive price-related notifications.

2. Information processed by the extension

To provide price tracking, Price Watch Local may process information from product pages that you explicitly choose to track, including:

Product page URLs and website domains.
Product titles, images, currencies, current prices, previous or reference prices, discount information, and promotional labels.
Structured product data, embedded page data, and visible page content needed to identify the relevant product and price.
Locally generated price history and product-check status.
Extension settings such as check interval, theme, language, temporary-tab preferences, and notification preferences.
A manually selected price element or selector when you explicitly use the manual price-selection feature.

Price Watch Local does not need your name, postal address, payment-card details, passwords, health information, or personal communications to perform its price-tracking function.

3. How information is used

The information above is used only to provide and operate Price Watch Local's price-tracking features, including:

Adding products you choose to your watchlist.
Detecting and validating relevant prices and product information.
Rechecking tracked products at the interval configured by the user while Chrome can run the extension.
Maintaining local price history and showing price changes.
Grouping similar product listings for easier comparison.
Creating optional price-related browser notifications.
Backing up and restoring your locally stored Price Watch Local data through the extension's JSON export/import feature.

Price Watch Local does not use browsing or website-content data for advertising, credit eligibility, profiling unrelated to price tracking, or purposes unrelated to the extension's disclosed single purpose.

4. Local storage

Your watchlist, extracted product information, price history, and extension settings are stored in Chrome extension storage on your device/browser profile. Temporary workflow information may also be stored in Chrome's session storage while an operation is in progress.

Price Watch Local does not operate a developer-controlled backend or cloud database for storing your watchlist or price history.

Browser extension storage is controlled by the browser profile. Anyone with sufficient access to your browser profile or device may potentially access locally stored extension data.

5. Website access and network requests

Price Watch Local needs to access product websites selected by the user in order to retrieve or inspect current product information. Depending on the website, the extension may:

Read the active product page after you interact with the extension.
Request a tracked product page in the background.
Use a temporary inactive browser tab when live page content is necessary for reliable price detection.

These connections are made to the product website being checked, not to a Price Watch Local developer-operated data collection server.

Product websites may receive normal network and browser information when they are accessed, such as your IP address, cookies, session state, or other information handled by that website. Those websites operate under their own privacy policies and terms.

6. Temporary tabs and bot-protected pages

Some websites load prices dynamically or restrict background requests. When enabled, Price Watch Local may open an inactive temporary tab, wait for the product page to load, read the relevant product information, and close only the temporary tab that it created.

Price Watch Local does not bypass CAPTCHAs. If human verification remains necessary, the extension may require user action instead of attempting to circumvent the website's protection.

7. Notifications

Browser notification permission is optional. If you enable it, Price Watch Local uses it only for extension-related notices such as tracked-product price changes, price drops, or attention required for a tracked item. Notifications are not used for third-party advertising.

8. Data sharing, sale, and advertising

Price Watch Local does not sell your watchlist, browsing information, extracted product information, or price history.

The extension does not automatically send this data to advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or unrelated third parties.

Information is processed only as necessary to provide the extension's user-facing price-tracking functionality, including direct interaction with product websites selected for tracking.

9. Analytics and remote executable code

Price Watch Local does not include developer-operated analytics or telemetry for collecting your watchlist or price-history data.

The extension does not load or execute remotely hosted JavaScript or WebAssembly as extension code. Executable extension code is packaged with the extension.

10. Support link

Price Watch Local includes an optional support link to Buy Me a Coffee. This external website is opened only when you choose to follow the support link. Any information processed after visiting that external service is governed by that service's own privacy policy.

11. Data retention and deletion

Local Price Watch Local data remains in your browser profile until it is removed through the extension/browser, replaced through an import operation, cleared from extension storage, or removed when the extension is uninstalled, subject to Chrome's own storage behavior.

You can also export your watchlist and price history as a JSON backup from the extension before deleting local data.

12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This policy may be updated when Price Watch Local's functionality or data practices change. Material changes to data handling will be reflected in an updated policy and, where required, in the extension's Chrome Web Store disclosures.
